2023 One Page Play Festival and Theatre Skills Workshops

IMCOM-Europe Entertainment will present the 2023 One Page Play Festival and Theater Skills Workshops Oct. 6 - 8 at USAG Ansbach

The 2023 festival will include a one-page play production workshop; various theatre skills workshops to include play adjudication; a monologue competition; and a volunteer recognition ceremony. The festival will also include a guest performance of a professional theatre production. All events are free and open to the public.
The festival workshops are open to participants 13 years of age and up. We strongly encourage participation of all professionals and volunteers, as they will realize substantial benefits through interaction with theater professionals. Participation in the festivals and workshops will increase personal and professional excellence; enhance resilience and readiness; and increase community service through recognition of outstanding efforts.

FESTIVAL SCHEDULE (subject to change)

Friday, Oct. 6:

7 p.m.: Annual Entertainment Monologue Competition Sign-Ups Begin.

Sign-ups begin for this Army Europe Entertainment tradition.

Monologues must be 2 - 4 minutes long and must be fully memorized for first presentation on Saturday afternoon. Selected monologues will be coached by acting teacher, Andrea Huber, and will be presented on Sunday afternoon.

The top three will compete for awards, including the first-place prize of an online, one-on-one, private coaching session with a noted and award-winning Broadway and West End star.

Open to 13 years of age and up. Must be present to sign-up.

7 - 10 p.m.: Adjudication Practices and Principles Training Workshop (Part 1)   

Presented by Kathy Pingel, Ron Ziegler and Paul Bourne.   

Come learn the ins and outs of theatre adjudication. These adjudication professionals will explain the concepts and principles of adjudication theory and practice. A great way to understand and develop a critical, intelligent and discerning eye. 13 years of age and up.                       

Saturday, Oct. 7:

9:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.: One-Page-Play Creation Workshop

Presented by Paul Bourne

Here is where it all begins - the creation and development of One-Page Plays. Open to all actors, directors, writers, stage managers and designers.  13 years of age and up.

1-3 p.m.: First Monologue Presentations

Conducted by Andrea Huber                         

All monologues will be presented. Andrea Huber will select 8-12 for intense coaching and presentation on Sunday. 13 years of age and up.

2 - 2:30 p.m.: One-Page Play Casting

Conducted by Paul Bourne.

Now that the one-page plays have been conceived and developed, it is time to select directors and cast actors. This is a great place for first-time directors and actors to learn and hone their skills. 13 years of age and up.

2:30-6 p.m.: One-Page Production

Conducted by Paul Bourne.

The selected one-page plays are now developed, devised and fully produced. Now that the one-page plays have been conceived and developed, it is time to select directors and cast actors. 13 years of age and up.

7:30-10 p.m.: Adjudication Practices and Principles Training Workshop (Part 2)

Presented by Kathy Pingel, Ron Ziegler and Paul Bourne. 

This is the second part of the adjudication training. This workshops series is excellent to develop an understanding of adjudication and develop a critical, intelligent, and discerning eye. 13 years of age and up.

Sunday, Oct. 8

9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.: One-Page Play Rehearsal

Various locations on Bleidorn Kaserne                     

12:30 - 1 p.m.: Monologue Competition

The Ansbach Terrace Playhouse, Bleidorn Kaserne

1:30- 3:30 p.m.: One-Page Play Technical Rehearsals

4 - 5:15 p.m.: One-Page Play Presentations

Now is the time to premiere, brand-new, original and never-before-seen productions created by Army Europe Entertainment staff and participants.

 Adult material and subject suitable for 13 years of age and up.
